What is a “Part-Time Student Employment Program”? |
Within the framework of the "Procedures and Principles for Part-Time Student Employment in Higher Education Institutions" published by the Council of Higher Education pursuant to Article 46 of the Law on Higher Education No. 2547 and the Senate Principles Directive of our University dated 26/08/2014 and numbered 390/14, students are employed within the scope of "Part-Time Work" (in the number deemed appropriate by the University Executive Board decision for the relevant period) in order to assist with academic and administrative work and procedures in our University units during the education-training periods. |
What is the Purpose of Employing Part-Time Students? |
The aim is to help our students become productive individuals who have acquired work discipline by employing them in temporary jobs in line with their interests and abilities in their spare time outside of class hours, thus providing them with both financial gain and practical skills. |
Who is a Part-Time Student? |
It is the name given to a student who is employed in temporary jobs in the academic and administrative units of our university and is not considered a worker. |
Who Can Work Part Time? |
Our students who are registered in any of the associate degree, undergraduate and graduate (excluding non-thesis and special students) programs, who are studying within the normal education period and who have not received any disciplinary punishment can work at our University as part-time students. |
Which Students Cannot Work Part-Time? |

Students who are students of another university and study at our university with the status of "Special Student", | |
Foreign Students (including TRNC and Turkic Republics) | |
Those who have a criminal record due to events such as terrorism, drug or disgraceful crimes, | |
Those who have received disciplinary punishment, | |
(Except for Orphan Pension and Alimony) Those who have an income at least at the "Minimum Wage" level, | |
Those who exceed the normal education period (one year is added for those who study in the preparatory class), | |
Those who have worked before and whose contracts were terminated due to non-compliance with the contract made with our Institution during the period they were employed cannot be employed as "Part-Time Students". |
What Kind of Jobs Do Students Work In? |
Students are responsible for contributing to the managers, officers and teaching staff in order to carry out the work and transactions more quickly and efficiently, without disrupting the working order in that unit. They generally work in simple office work, in jobs that do not require expertise, and in jobs related to the subject they are studying. |
What Kind of Jobs Cannot Be Employed by Students? |
Students cannot be employed in heavy work such as cleaning, carrying, etc. in the units, especially in the student and grade affairs of the units. |
How Long Is The Working Time? |
Part-time students can work 3 to 5 hours per day and a maximum of 15 hours per week (within the framework of the program approved by the unit they work in). |
How are students' working hours arranged? |
The distribution of working hours to the days of the week and the start and end times of the work are determined by the relevant unit managers in a way that does not disrupt the student's course schedule. |
Do Students Work on Weekends and Holidays? |
Although it is a rule by law not to work on days that are considered national holidays and public holidays, part-time students are required to work on weekends, nights and public holidays, upon the request of the unit manager, if the work requires it. |
Can a StudentWork on More Than One Unit? |
There is no right to work in two different units. |
Does Working Eliminate the Rights I Receive from My Family? |
No, our students are not deprived of their monthly payments or the opportunities provided by their families. |
I Receive Orphan's Pension from SGK 39. Will My Pension Be Cut If I Work Part Time? |
Students who receive an orphan's pension from the Social Security Institution (SGK) do not have their salaries cut when they work part-time. |
Where Can I Work? |
While all academic and administrative units of our university offer job opportunities to their students, they also provide job opportunities in research and development centers. |
In which periods are student admissions made? |
Student admissions are made at the beginning of each academic term (October). If needed, it is made in the middle of the term (February) and in the summer term (July). No student admissions are made outside of these periods. |
How Can I Apply for a Job? |
Job postings are published in the Part-time student section at https://www.osmaniye.edu.tr/birimdetay-sks-19121. You can apply to the relevant units with a job application form within the dates specified in the job posting, separately for each job. |
What Information Is Included in Job Advertisements? |
How many part-time students will be employed in which units and in what types of jobs, the nature of the work to be done, the conditions sought for the students to be employed, weekly working hours, and the place and date of application are specified. |
Who Selects the Students to Work? |
The Part-Time Student Selection Committee, located in the Academic and Administrative units, carries out the selection. |
What are the documents required to start a business? |

How is the Hourly Wage Determined? |
Hourly Wage: The wage to be paid to students employed part-time for one hour of work is determined by the university board of directors, not to exceed one-fourth of the daily gross minimum wage determined for workers over the age of 16 in accordance with the Labor Law No. 4857. |
When Are Salaries Paid? |
Faculty/College/Vocational School or other units send the time sheets for the month students worked to the Health Culture and Sports Department by the end of the 30th working hours of each month. Due to the necessity of preparing a single payroll due to SSI transactions, the Health Culture Department starts payment work immediately after all the time sheets are received. According to the working hours in these time sheets, payments are prepared as soon as possible (by the 10th day of each month at the latest) and sent to the Strategy Department and after the transactions there, the fees are deposited into the students' accounts. |
Sigorta Durumu Nasıldır? |
Part-time students are considered insured within the scope of subparagraph (a) of the first paragraph of Article 4 of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510 in terms of social security and only the provisions of work accident and occupational disease insurance are applied to them. Notifications regarding the insurance and termination of insurance of part-time students are made by the Department. |
Can I Get Unemployment Insurance When I Quit My Job? |
You cannot receive unemployment insurance because the unemployment insurance premium has not been paid in accordance with the relevant legal provisions. |
