What is the Part-Time Student Employment Program?


Based on Article 46 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, the 'Procedures and Principles for Employing Part-Time Students' published by the Higher Education Council, and the Senate Regulation dated 26/08/2014, numbered 390/14, our university employs students under 'Part-Time Employment' to assist with academic and administrative tasks during the academic terms, as determined by the University Board's decision for the relevant period.


What is the purpose of employing part-time students?


The purpose is to allow our students to work in temporary jobs that align with their interests and skills during their free time outside of class, helping them gain both financial benefits and practical skills, thus contributing to their development as productive individuals with work discipline.


What is meant by a Part-Time Student?


It refers to a student who is employed in temporary jobs within the academic and administrative units of our university and is not considered an employee.


Who can work part-time?


Students who are enrolled in any associate, bachelor’s, or graduate (excluding non-thesis and special students) programs, studying within the normal duration of their education, and who have not received any disciplinary penalties, can work as part-time students at our university.


Which students cannot be employed part-time?


Non-thesis master’s students,


Students from other universities who are enrolled at our university as 'Special Students,'


Foreign Students (including those from the TRNC and Turkic Republics)


Those with a criminal record due to offenses such as terrorism, drug-related crimes, or disgraceful offenses,


Those who have received disciplinary penalties,


Those with an income at least at the level of the 'Minimum Wage' (excluding orphan's pension and alimony),


Those who exceed the normal duration of education (an additional year is added for those in preparatory classes),


Those who have previously worked and had their contract terminated due to violations of the agreement made with our institution cannot be employed under the 'Part-Time Student' status.


What types of jobs do students work in?


Students are required to assist managers, staff, and faculty in a way that does not disrupt the workflow of the unit, primarily in simple office tasks, non-specialized jobs, and work related to their field of study.


What types of jobs cannot students be employed in?


Students cannot be employed in heavy tasks such as cleaning, transporting, etc., especially in student and grade-related operations of the units.


What is the duration of work?


Part-time students can work 3 to 5 hours per day and a maximum of 15 hours per week, within the framework of the program deemed appropriate by the unit they are working in.


How are students' working hours organized?


The distribution of working hours across the days of the week, as well as the start and end times of the job, are determined by the unit managers in a way that does not disrupt the student's class schedule.


Can students work on weekends and holidays?


While it is generally stipulated in the laws that no work should be done on national holidays and official holidays, part-time students may be required to work on weekends, nights, and official holiday days when the units are open, at the request of the unit manager, as necessitated by the job.


Can students work in multiple units?


Students do not have the right to work in two different units.


Does working eliminate the rights I receive from my family?


Our students do not lose their monthly allowances or benefits provided by their families due to the income they earn from their work.


If I receive an orphan's pension from SGK 39, will my payment be cut if I work part-time?


Students receiving an orphan's pension from SGK will not have their payments cut if they work part-time.


Where can I work?


Our university offers job opportunities to students in all academic and administrative units, as well as in research and development centers.


When are student recruitments conducted?


Student recruitments are conducted at the beginning of each academic term (October). If needed, they may also occur mid-term (February) and during the summer (July). No student recruitment takes place outside these periods.


How can I apply for a job?


Job listings are published in the part-time student section at https://www.osmaniye.edu.tr/birimdetay-sks-19121 . You can apply to the relevant units with the job application form during the specified dates for each job.


What information is included in the job listings?


The job listings include details on which units will employ how many part-time students, the nature of the work, the requirements for the students, weekly working hours, and the application location and dates.


Who selects the students to be employed?


The Part-Time Student Selection Committee is established within the Academic and Administrative units.


What documents are required to start working?


1 copy of the identity card (address and phone number must be included)


A recent student certificate (to be obtained from the student affairs office)


1 passport-sized photo


Bank account number


SPAS Eligibility Certificate output from the e-Government website (it can be accessed by logging in with your e-Government username and password and typing SPAS in the search button at the top left)


Part-Time Student Employment Contract (will be prepared by our department during the hiring process)


Insured employment notification (will be prepared by our department)


How is the hourly wage determined?


The hourly wage for part-time employed students shall not exceed one-fourth of the daily gross minimum wage set for workers over 16 years of age, in accordance with Labor Law No. 4857, and will be determined by the university's board of directors.


When are salaries paid?


Faculties/Schools/Technical Colleges or other units send the attendance records for the month worked by the students to the Department of Health, Culture, and Sports by the end of working hours on the 30th of each month. The Department of Health and Culture begins payment processing immediately after receiving all attendance records, due to the necessity of preparing a single payroll for social security procedures. Payments are prepared as soon as possible (no later than the 10th of each month) based on the working hours recorded, and then sent to the Strategy Department, after which the wages are deposited into the students' accounts.


What is the insurance status?


Part-time students are considered insured under the 4th article, first paragraph, (a) clause of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510, and only the provisions regarding occupational accidents and diseases apply. Notifications regarding the insurance status and termination of part-time students' insurance are made by the department.


Can I receive unemployment insurance when I leave my job?


You cannot receive unemployment insurance because no unemployment insurance premiums have been paid in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.
